Given that the origin as a tool has been largely eroded under the steadily rising trend of technology, it is easy to overturn the concept of a diving watch which becomes increasingly bony. For diving watches, what used to be part of the gear that was once worn by an outdated Heaton-like character is only a subclass of sports watch. Thankfully, anything that makes diving watches ideal for diving is also useful for fetch sports watches. Even if you have never planned to diving so far, as many people do, it is still difficult to argue with the diversity of diving watch, flexibility, and no fuss.

Width 38 mm with black sandblast finish dial and red accents.
Following a reputed format, the diving watch features a casual yet assertive design with a bezel that allows time readability, robust structure, water resistance, functional use of the lumen, and elapsed time tracking Offers. Or pending pizza delivery). Another aspect of the diving watch I am enjoying is that the icons (your Submariners, Fifty Fathoms, Seamasters, etc.) are quite expensive but you can get a truly wonderful diving watch at under $ 500. Hell, if you did not have the simple Seiko diver's joy, you can pick up (and should) SKX 007 at around $ 200. Taking that into consideration, I would like to insist that the format of diving watch will still be a wonderful everyday watch, and the most beloved Seiko offering is a bit bigger and not exactly subtle in its style

Mainhudson on the wrist 38 mm wide, 45 mm rug on the rug ensure a comfortable vintage style wrist experience.
As a more dressy (and less common) alternative, let's consider Maen Watches, a new offer recently added to the rank of micro brands. Maen, based in Stockholm, Sweden, recently announced their Hudson divers.
A comprehensive layout offered in both 38 mm and 42 mm sizes Hudson is a handsome steel diving watch with matching bracelets. With two available sizes, Hudson has three dialed versions. Black with a white chapter ring. Midnight blue. This design does not establish a new foundation in the world of diving watches, but it provides an aggressive and discreet design of sizes suitable for almost all wrists. The specific Hudson model shown in this review is 38 millimeters in black, and 12 millimeters in thickness, and is a lag in a 45 millimeter rug.

The included solid steel bracelet is very suitable for Hudson's case design.

The Hudson dial is a black sandblast finish with red accent, which provides excellent readability thanks to the long thin hands that make good use of the red accent. It is strange that the red used in the hand is slightly different from the magenta color used in the name and the accent differs in small scales. I asked Maen about this, and it relates to the surface of the material to which the color is applied, which results in the same color appearing slightly different on the dial and hand. Hudson using a screw-on crown, 100 meters of water resistance, antireflective sapphire crystal has been assembled and tested in Lugano, Switzerland.
There is a bright and simple date display at the 3 o'clock position, it is inconspicuous in the dial design, and the shape of the marker and the size of 38 mm are balanced. The unidirectional bezel has an aluminum insert. While in use, the bezel sounds cheap, but unlike that of Seiko of the same price, you can feel elegant. Physical grip is good, I think I had seen a bright pip on the bezel (after all this is a diving watch). Thankfully, hands and markers are often lumen, especially for somewhat thinner markers and hand designs (see below).

Maine Hudson's lumens are C3 Super Luminova, which shines well in dark places.
Likewise, brushed steel bracelets are simple, but with solid links (including end links), collapsible safety clasps, and multiple microadjustment points. With a 20 mm end link, Hudson has a very wide rug profile, which means it is awesome above the bracelet but perhaps a little out of the balance of the strap.

On the back display case, ETA 2824-4 is displayed.
The movement is ETA 2824-2, which is visible from behind the sapphire display case (and is not commonly seen in this price range). Elaborate Grade to keep score. Most of you already know this movement from one (or many) of your own watches. It is a de facto third-party Swiss commercial item offering 38 hours of power reserve, manual winding, hacking (stop seconds), and 4 Hz rate. Maine adjusts the movement to a speed of +/- 7 seconds or less in one day with four positions.
On the wrist, Maine really wears well. A good part with a thickness of 12 mm is a box-shaped domed sapphire crystal, the actual case and Hudson's bezel is only 10 mm. Visibility is strong, 38mm case is comfortable, not to be conspicuous and wear well. Perhaps more versatile than the vintage, the reserved case style feels vintage and Hudson slides easily to my 7-inch wrist position. As long as you do not particularly love big watches (and Maen is not a 42 mm version of Hudson), 38 mm is in the sweet spot of this design, reinforcing Hudson's somewhat discreet atmosphere.

Attractive combination of sports and dressy styling Hudson is a classy dive watchform of unobtrusive style.
In summary, Maen Hudson is a 38 mm diving watch with a Swiss automatic movement, a discreet design, a rugged steel bracelet, a 100 m waterproof, Swiss assembly, and a spare NATO strap. With a suggested price of 399.20 euros (about $ 450 when issued), Maen offers a very strong value. If you are looking for a very rough expression of a modern diving watch, think that the newcomer Maen should attract spots in your list of candidates with attractive, easy-to-wear and affordable Hudson I will.
